If I were a piece of candy...

What if we started everyday by asking ourselves that question?
At my age, ive got pieces of my personality that are hard coated with chocolate plaster.
Ive got other pieces that are soft and chewy like a Rolo, but I never seem to go into my day with a plan for tasting sweet.
Consider new approaches to old behaviors.  Life is a series of cyclical events.  Ups, downs, twists, turns we all have them in our lives.  The reason relationships are hard is because we are all on our own paths and very rarely will you be in the same place as your partner, friends or kids.
Sometimes my chocolate doesnt align with my wifes peanut butter. Its up to us as evolving humans to recoginize where we are individually and collectively and to do it regularly.  Thats called self-actualization.  Its up to us to adjust our approach and behavior when it doesnt jive with the world around us.  Im guilty of this myself, but Im often isolated and lost in myself and I forget there are people who need me to do something different in order to make their lives better.  Typically the change benefits all parties so im not sure why our human nature is set to resist change?
For the next few weeks pay attention to what flavor you are putting out during the day.
Make sure and start your day with a bit of projection and give yourself a "candy tag".
Today "I am a green Jolly Rancher!"
Its a fun exercise, will help you stay focused on your insides and will stop letting your outside factors have so much control on your taste.
Stay sweet!

iPhone Can Do

The iPhone and I have a long history together.  I was part of the original launch team at ATT that saw the world change when we launched iPhone 2g.  I found the iPhone circus so amazing, beautiful and hilarious all at the same time so I tried to capture those pop culture missives in this list of things the iPhone Can Do.  Well, maybe...
Here it is in all its glory.

  • iPhone drives a Ferrari
  • iPhone has an engineering degree and can build skyscrapers
  • iPhone is certified for space travel and works on Earth, the moon, Saturn and Mars 2G
  • (no 3 G available at this time on Mars)
  • iPhone knows why the caged bird sings, but wont tell due to its intense secrecy
  • If an iPhone falls in the woods, all other iPhone make a video of it and post it to You Tube
  • iPhone can hail a cab
  • iPhone can unionize employees
  • Rumor has it Chuck Norris has an iPhone under his chin
  • If you were able to unlock the iPhone and look inside, you would see there is a mini Chris Angel wrapped in chains
  • iPhone users have their own lane on Cali highways
  • Anyone that has an iPhone can survive all natural disasters
  • If you plant your iPhone and water it daily, it will grow a mock turtleneck and generate 300m in free advertising
  • iPhone is responsible for ¼ of the worlds rice production
  • iPhone speaks 4 languages and has a masters in philosophy
  • iPhone is the world record holder in the long jump
  • If you lay your iPhone flat and stand on it, you will teleport to the nearest Starbucks
  • iPhone knocked out Lenox Lewis in 6 rounds
  • iPhone used to drive long haul trailers for a living
  • iPhone can be used a s a flotation device
  • iPhone invented tanning beds and liquid soap
  • iPhone can type 150 words per minute
  • iPhone was one of the original monopoly game pieces
  • If you look closely, you can see where iPhone signed the Declaration of Independence
  • iPhone can convert salt water to drinking water with a filtered straw
  • iPhone won the NBAs 6 man award this year
  • If you put 5 or more iPhone in a row, they will melt together like the villain in Terminator 2 (T2) and say, “If you want to live, come with me.”
  • iPhone is melting the polar cap
  • If you sold iPhone by the gallon, it would cost less than gas

Time for Tuesday

Today is Tuesday for those of you who keep up with space and time.
Have you ever stopped to think about what time really is?  What does it mean and is it real?
This weekend I spent a good bit of time thinking about time.  Time with my daughter, time for exercise, time to read, time to plan, time to socialize, time to eat, time to pray, time to call someone special, time to take a trip.
But are those thoughts even worth the time?
When I was spending time with my family this weekend, I tried hard to focus on the engagement between myself and others. What are we sharing?  Can I tell how the other person is feeling?  By focusing on the exchange, strangley enough it creates a unconscious behavior of paying better attention to the entire event as oppossed to just your piece of the conversation.  I swear I talk to folks sometimes who seem like they are in the middle of an entirely different conversation with themselves!
When I foucsed on the entire exchange, I was also able to recall more detail about the conversation.
When I foucsed on where we were sitting and how we were facing each other, I was also able to remember that part of the conversation better.  You begin to forget about other distractions like how much time do I have before im doing something else?
All anyone wants in a conversation is to know that they have been heard and we all have a right to that basic desire.  Next time you are having a casual conversation with a friend or collegue, do yourself and the greater good a favor by forgetting about time and focusing on forging better relationships.

Shazaam!

Today i want to talk about you and your body.  As I get older im left wondering more and more each day what that little pain in my foot is or where that mark came from or why does my left arm hurt like a muscle pull?  In a world of readily available information you would think I could look online for some insight?  However, there is now so much stuff out there that im not sure its worth digging around looking for trouble.
I am under the impression that your mind has the power to grow, eliminate, re-size or reshape any part of you and all of it may not be comfortable.  The less outside influence you supply, the more clear your internal perception of yourself.
It seems so simple, but if you dont think about having cancer, you probably wont get it.
We apply these tactics in other areas of our life like finance and wealth and it seems plausible that it would work in health as well.  Im trying really hard right now to not focus on what i cant see and to trust that the Lord has a plan for me.  It may be a bumpy plan, but it is a perfect bumpy plan.
Trust your body, trust yourself, trust the Lord.

" The secret of health for both mind and body is to not mourn for the past, worry about the future, or anticipate troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly."
